Ceramic artist Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye will be exhibiting her new works in Galeri Nev Istanbul starting from December 7th, 2018. The artist who opened her last solo show in 2012 will meet her viewers in Istanbul after a six- years break.
Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye’s works have been regularly displayed in Turkey since 1987. In 2001, a retrospective of the artist was organised at the Kunstindustrimuseet in Copenhagen and later on at the Museum of Islamic arts in Istanbul, where the art lovers had an opportunity to see all of her works produced between 1964 and 2000. In this exhibition, the artist presents 19 works in forms that we are used to, but produced only in the colour scales of red and yellow. The display that can be visited until January 12, 2019, is supported by Gaggenau that left behind 335 years with the tradition of combining arts and crafts.
By shaping the stoneware; the oldest form we know in history, as well as soil, colour and the space itself, Ebüzziya’s works that become contemporary art objects are being displayed in more than thirty international museums all around the world. Even though they are mostly defined by their magic, poetry or imaginariness, Ebüzziya’s stoneware ceramics are considered unique in terms of their technical mastery. The last stoneware works of Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye, who is cited as one of the few ceramic masters in the world by international art historians and art critics, can be seen at Galeri Nev Istanbul until January 12, 2019.
