Nermin Er’s new solo show “Days Heap Upon Us” will be on display between November 2- December 1, 2018 at Galeri Nev Istanbul.
In her works, Nermin Er uses paper and ink as her main mediums in search of the limits and possibilities of the material. In her new series, the artist focuses on the concept of masses, visual and intellectual themes of accumulation, disintegration and collection. By creating three-dimensional micro spaces, her works in different series bring a volume and dynamism to the surface while enabling an integrative language of expression such as pieces of sentences coming together. In addition to the paper works, Er’s animations, which could be described as a reflection of her process of studying and practicing the material, will be seen on display.
The exhibition, which takes its name from a poem in Lisa Robertson’s novel named “The Weather”, can be visited at Galeri Nev Istanbul until the 1st of December.
Days Heap Upon Us
Days heap upon us. All plain. All clouds except a narrow
opening at the top of the sky. All cloudy except a narrow
opening at the bottom of the sky with others smaller. All
cloudy except a narrow opening at the bottom of the sky.
All cloudy except a narrow opening at the top of the sky.
All cloudy. All cloudy All cloudy. Except one large
opening with others smaller. And once in the clouds.
Days heap upon us. Where is our anger. And the shades
darker than the plain part and darker at the top than the
bottom. But darker at bottom than top. Days heap upon us.
